Procurement Specialist

Our client located in the Waterloo is looking for a Procurement Specialist with a proven track record as a top performer within a medium sized to large employer. This is a newly created role that reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic sourcing plans to reduce total cost, development alternate sources, optimize value from suppliers and meet the expectations of all customers.

Compensation: $50,000 to $65,000

Responsibilities of the Procurement Specialist include:

  • Ensure competitive pricing and product continuity through dual/alternate sourcing
  • Support organization through extensive product knowledge and technical experience
  • Assist with new product development to ensure timely transfer of information between purchasing, sales and marketing, and operations
  • Support sourcing and supply projects by providing relevant cost comparisons and recommendations

Requirements:

  • Degree of Diploma in related field (Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Purchasing, Procurement Management)
  • 5 plus years of experience working in procurement and quoting in a medium to large corporate environment, preferable in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Experience in strategic sourcing and a proven background of sustained cost improvement
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Experience working for a company with operations in Canada and the US
  • Above average communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Creative problem solving and effective decision making
