Our client located in Waterloo is looking for a CPA that is a hands-on controller with a proven track record as a top performer within a small to medium sized employer. This role offers very meaningful work and reports directly to the company President and Vice President.

Locations: Waterloo
Compensation: $80,000 to $120,000

Responsibilities of the Controller include:

  • Preparation, analysis, and presentation of monthly/annual financial statement and reporting packages to senior management
  • Overseeing the annual preparation of budget and forecasts
  • Provide financial analysis on investment and acquisition opportunities
  • Review and analysis financial statements and other financial reporting for investment companies
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and general accounting
  • Managing the year-end audit process with external accounting firm
  • Supervision, training, and development of an accounting clerk

  • An accounting designation CPA with 5 plus years of combined experience working in senior accounting role in industry and public accounting
  • University degree or college diploma in business and/or accounting
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Above average communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Hands on ability
  • Strong computer skills including Advanced level MS Excel skills and overall solid system skills
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization
  • Proven track record in highlighting and resolving issues in a timely manner, questioning results, challenging the status quo, initiating, and successfully implementing change
